The plane, chartered from Miami Air International, was attemp

came to rest in the shallow water of the river, authorities and passengers said.

The military base is on the western bank of the St. Johns River about 8

miles (12.87 km) south of central Jacksonville, about 350 miles (563.27 km) north of Miami.

Miami Air International is a charter airline operating a fleet of the Boeing 737-800, diffe

rent from the 737 MAX 8 aircraft that has been grounded following two fatal crashes involving that plane.

Representatives of the airline did not immediately reply to requests for comment.

Regarding the second Belt and Road Forum for Intern

ational Cooperation, to be held in Beijing on Thursday through Saturday, S

ong said the ministry will help deepen economic and trade cooperation with other coun

tries. “China will build more free trade zones with countries that are willing to do so,” Song added.

“As for the existing free trade zones, we will reduce administrative barriers in trade

and investment and push the formation of a big Belt and Road marketplace.”

While some critics have argued that the initiative will lead countries i

nto debt traps, Song said debt can be solved through joint efforts to promote the devel

opment of BRI economies. “Even though some countries may have high debt levels, as their pace of indus

trialization, urbanization and modernization accelerates, their debts will gradually decrease.”

Joe Kaeser, president and CEO of Siemens AG, said, “If an initiative like the BRI unifies more than two-thirds of the global

population, it will create massive infrastructure and economic movement that will build its own rules.”

schedule must not be imposed on workersschedule

Editor’s note: The “996” schedule (working from 9 am to 9 pm, six

days a week) has sparked a heated public debate, because many workers don’t get any ove

rtime pay and, worse, could end up in the “”. The “996” phenomenon is rampant in the high-tech and internet compani

es. Some internet company chiefs have added fuel to the debate by saying they want their workers to “work hard”. T

hree experts share their views on the issue with China Daily’s Yao Yuxin. Excerpts follow:

Labor Law should never be violated

Given the fierce competition in the high-tech sector industries, start-

ups have to take drastic measures to survive, let alone thrive. To develop new products, and pr

oduce and market them, companies need a great deal of resources and ski

lled manpower. Perhaps this is the reason they make their employees work overtime.

But forcing the “996” schedule on the workers is illegal. To p

rotect the rights of workers, the Labor Law stipulates that employers

should not force their workers to work more than eight hours a day, or more than 44 hours a week. If emplo

hina will continue to suspend extra tariffs on

The State Council said on Sunday that China would continue to suspend additional tariffs on US

vehicles and auto parts after April 1, in a goodwill gesture following a US decision to delay tariff hikes on Chinese imports.

In December, China said it would suspend additional 25 percent tariffs on US-made vehi

cles and auto parts for three months, following a truce in a trade war between the world’s two largest economies.

The State Council, or China’s cabinet, said the move was aimed at “continuing to create a good atmosphere for the ongoing trade negotiations between both sides”.

elt and Road Initiative serves to promote multilateral cooperation: China Daily editorial

t is natural for such a big international project as China’s Belt and Road Initiative to be ta

ken by some with a grain of salt. But the fact that 129 countries and 29 international organizations

have so far signed cooperation documents with China on the initiative shows that such views are in the minority.

The most common charges laid at China’s door are the Belt and Road is a debt trap and it is all about Chi

na’s strategic objectives. It has also been called a “scheme to split European Union”. And other labels will certainly appear.

The people of Britain have voted. When is the political class

going to give effect to that vote?” Bolton said in an interview with the British broadcaster Sky.

Trump Jr. was more forceful in an opinion article published in the Telegraph, comparing the Brexit referen

dum to his father’s election and asserting both were subject to interference by a class of political elites.

”With the deadline fast approaching, it appears that democracy in the UK is all but dead,” wrote Trump Jr., who hasn’t weighed in previous

ly on foreign matters and isn’t a known expert in British politics. “Why is this important for us Americans? Because Brexit is an example of

how the establishment elites try to subvert the will of the people when they’re given the chance.”

The White House declined to say whether Trump Jr.’s op-ed reflected the views o

f the administration, or whether he consulted with the White House about his message.

On Brexit at least, Trump was not completely breaking from presidential norm. His predecessor President Barack Oba

ma traveled to London in the months leading up to referendum and encouraged voters against a decision to leav

e the EU, saying such a move would leave them at the “back of the queue” for a trade deal with the US.
